Array.prototype.shift()

Remove the first item from an array and returns it. The array is modified.

let wizards = ['Gandalf', 'Radagast', 'Merlin'];
let first = wizards.shift();

// logs "Gandalf"
console.log(first);

// logs ["Radagast", "Merlin"]
console.log(wizards);
