Ms. Rachel
One common refrain I hear from American liberals is something to the effect of…
Demanding basic human rights is not political.
And like… I get where they’re going with this, but it seems so fucking naive and obtuse.
Everything is political. Politics isn’t some “other” that’s separate from life. If you don’t agree, it might be because you’re in a privileged enough demographic that the politics of life don’t affect you much.
So it was refreshing AF to have this quote from child educator Ms. Rachel pop-up in my feed yesterday…
I am political. Itβs political to believe that children are worthy of love and care, and that every child is equal, and that our care shouldnβt stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border.
Earlier this year, I mentioned Ms. Rachel as an inspirational revolutionary figure that we should all try to be more like in 2026.
I’m doubling down on that. Ms. Rachel is punk AF! β
