ADHD, interest, and motivation
This week, we’ve been looking at the four things that encourage your ADHD hyperfocus to show up. Yesterday, we talked about novelty.
Today, let’s talk about another: interest.
This one is pretty straightforward. When you’re interested in something, your ADHD often can’t focus on anything but that thing!
You don’t need to coax your hyperfocus kraken from the shadowy depths. If anything, you need help getting it to rest.
In the context of work, a job that lets you have more freedom of the projects you work on, or that’s in an industry or space you find interesting, is going to align with how your brain works a lot better than one where you’re assigned tasks by someone else.
I’m working on the ADHD Career Guide, a new course about how to use your ADHD as your unfair career advantage instead of something that holds you back.
